Are you looking to make a positive impact on the future of an organization dedicated to the breaking the cycle of domestic violence and building a community free of abuse? Between Friends’ Board of Directors seeks candidates for the Board who are interested in making a positive impact on the success of the organization, utilizing experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance: internal controls, risk assessment, and/or internal/external auditing
  • Marketing and/or Communications: branding, social media campaigns, and/or online/print campaigns
  • Fundraising: work or volunteer capacity (i.e. membership organizations, nonprofits, or charitable/religious organizations)

Candidates should demonstrate support for the mission of Between Friends and should possess the capacity to contribute toward the work of the Board and the organization.

Mission Statement

WHAT WE DO Between Friends is dedicated to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and building a community free of abuse. Through our 24-hour helpline, counseling, and legal assistance, we provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals and families in crisis, while educating communities as part of the movement to end domestic violence.

Description

Between Friends works tirelessly to empower people who have survived abuse. We also educate young people and adults across Chicagoland about domestic violence. In the past fiscal year, we have:

  • Helped 2,250 callers to our crisis phone line;
  • Supported 735 people in legal cases through court advocacy assistance;
  • Provided counseling to 200 adults and 75 children;
  • Hosted safe, fun social events for 210 survivors via our A Night Out program;
  • Taught 3,300 students about healthy relationships and teen dating violence;
  • Educated 8,465 music fans about consent at 14 venues and 10 festivals through OurMusicMyBody, a collaboration with Resilience.
