BSTRA Fundraising Committee Chairman Job Description
Bay State Trail Riders Association, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve, preserve and create new trails with access for horseback riders. This work also benefits all other trail users as there are no horseback only trails. The Fundraising Committee’s role is to obtain funding for BSTRA’s trail projects by education potential sponsors about what BSTRA does and offering them an opportunity to be part of the work we do in the community by donating.
This volunteer position heads up BSTRA’s annual fundraising efforts, administering the existing established fundraising program, managing the Fundraising Committee, and reporting Committee results to the Board of Directors. While a volunteer position, it is a great resume builder.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Contacting existing business sponsors to obtain sponsorship renewals and identifying and contacting potential new sponsors. The existing sponsor list is broken down and assigned to each of the members of the Fundraising Committee with the Chairman directing other members so the Fundraising Program is implemented in a consistent manner.
Acting as keeper of the total sponsor list and updating the online Business Sponsor Directory, National Trails Day Handout Sponsor Directory, and Fall Benefit Ride Handout Directory.
Preparing letters, contribution receipts and thank you letters for committee members to send to donors on their portion of the sponsor list.
Tracking and reporting donations from both businesses and individuals and providing monthly reports and updates to the Board of Directors.
Planning and running regular meetings with members of the Fundraising Committee to provide direction and collect results.
Communicating and coordinating sponsor advertising with BSTRA editor of the Bugle.
Organizing and running BSTRA’s National Trails Day Fundraising Event and Fall Benefit Ride with assistance from Fundraising Committee and Board of Directors.
Coordinating contact of previous donors and potential new donors for #Giving Tuesday by Fundraising Committee.
Identifying and developing other fundraising opportunities throughout the year with assistance of the members of the Fundraising Committee.
