Mission Statement

AventWest Children's Mentoring (AWCM) seeks to meet the needs of neighborhood children who are at academic risk of failing a grade in school by providing them assistance with homework, a nutritious meal, a caring adult to give them attention, and a safe place to play after school. We work to create a menu of services that promote healthy minds, healthy bodies, and healthy relationships.

AventWest Children's Mentoring uses a holistic approach to mentoring children that incorporates tutoring, meals or healthy snacks, and enrichment activities. AWCM addresses needs in the AventWest community by: providing children with nutritious foods via afternoon snacks and evening meals; teaching children about nutrition and related issues so that the children can improve their health and well being; and helping children achieve academically, improving their chances of graduating from high school and obtaining additional education.
