AventWest Community Development Corporation (AWCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that partners with community organizations to expand access to economic and educational opportunities for families living in the AventWest community of Raleigh, NC. AWCDC provides oversight for the AventWest Children's Mentoring (AWCM) program.

We are looking for an individual with skills and interest in accounting/bookkeeping to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer for our organization. Board members directly support the AWCM program by assisting with strategic direction and planning, ensuring the availability of adequate resources, and attending special events. The Board meets on the third Tuesday evening of the month to plan, discuss, and collaborate with AWCM's Executive Director in supporting all aspects of the organization. Board members hold the position for a 2-year term.

AventWest Children's Mentoring (AWCM) provides educational and nutritional support services that promote healthy minds, healthy bodies, and healthy relationships for children and families in the AventWest community of Raleigh, NC.

Description

AventWest Children's Mentoring uses a holistic approach to mentoring children that incorporates tutoring, meals or healthy snacks, and enrichment activities. AWCM addresses needs in the AventWest community by: providing children with nutritious foods via afternoon snacks and evening meals; teaching children about nutrition and related issues so that the children can improve their health and well being; and helping children achieve academically, improving their chances of graduating from high school and obtaining additional education.
