Description

Our Lindsay lost her battle with cancer at the age of 29. She was a bright and vibrant young woman with a 6 year old son who prior to her diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, had never been sick. Her last words to us were not of sadness or anger but that of inspiration, "Don't be sad for me, live your lives and Be Happy". To honor her words and her memory we created this foundation to spread hope and to help those on a similar journey.

It is our goal to make progress on the journey to becoming cancer free. This endeavor is two fold; 1. We support research directed at new treatment methods and clinical trial programs, 2. We provide direct patient support to those who are forced to endure long periods of hospitalization for treatment.

To raise funds for these efforts we hold the "Be Happy Road Race" in Windsor, CT every August, where 100% of every participant registration fee is donated directly to research fund accounts at Smilow Cancer Hospital. To date we have donated over $40,000. Throughout the year we also hold smaller monthly "Be Inspired" group outings where all proceeds are used to purchase crafts, projects, and other personal use items for hospitalized patients. This past December, we donated over 50 holiday craft kits to patients spending their holidays confined to the hospital and away from family.
