Our volunteers are entrusted with tremendous responsibilities. They must be able to safely operate emergency vehicles, provide patient care and treat all patients with dignity, respect and compassion.
We are currently looking for EMTs as well as volunteers willing to become an EMT. We provide all volunteers with training, and equipment to function as a valued member of Somerville Rescue Squad. No previous experience is necessary!
Serving as a Somerville rescue squad volunteer can be a life changing experience. Our volunteers develop new friendships, gain memorable experiences and provide services to our community. You will also gain skills that can be helpful preparing for a career in the medical field or simply to help you to reach to an emergency at home.

The Somerville Rescue Squad is committed to providing the highest quality emergency medical and technical rescue services available to the communities we serve. At the same time, we will facilitate the education, training, and understanding of injury and illness prevention as well as our role in the response, treatment, and transportation of the sick and injured. Since being founded in 1928, the Somerville Rescue Squad has provided the citizens of Somerville, Somerset County, and Central New Jersey with exemplary, VOLUNTEER, emergency medical and rescue services, 365 days a year
Description
As the oldest inland rescue squad in New Jersey and one of the oldest VOLUNTEER emergency medical service organizations in the United States we have a proud tradition of service to citizens, businesses, and government in Somerville as well as surrounding towns.
Since being founded in 1928, the Somerville Rescue Squad has provided exemplary, VOLUNTEER, emergency medical and rescue services, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
This proud tradition of service is continued today by our volunteers. They come from all walks of life but share a common sense of duty, dedication and teamwork.
