THRIVE! Enrichment Services is a Chicago-based nonprofit startup that, once the necessary infrastructure is in place, will provide behavior management, crisis intervention, day habilitation, vocational training; clinical, creative and expressive therapies; respite and recreational opportunities for individuals and families that are impacted by Autism and/or Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities with comorbid challenging behaviors, such as physical aggression, self-injury, elopement and property damage.

We are currently an all-volunteer organization, with all of our work being performed by our board members. All of the board members have personal and professional experience with individuals who have challenging behaviors, and all current board members are parents of adults who have special needs.

Our top three needs are: 1. a facility to house and operate its programs, 2. funding, and 3. volunteers who want to help us transform the lives of those who are impacted by challenging behaviors.

Our goal is to find one or more individuals who will work with our organization on a long term basis with fundraising, grant writing, budget development, program creation and other vital tasks. We have an immediate need for volunteers to compile a list of grants our organization may be eligible for (e.g., state and local grants, national grants, international grants, small grants, micro grants, government grants, foundation grants, corporate grants, etc.) and creating a calendar that lists each grant by deadline. There will be two deliverables: 1. A list of the grants with a brief summary and its deadline (can be in a MS Word table or an Excel spreadsheet); 2. A calendar with the name of the grant listed on its submission deadline date and a clickable link to its URL.

About THRIVE Enrichment Services

Mission Statement

The mission of THRIVE! Enrichment Services is to provide the resources, supports and interventions that individuals who have challenging behaviors (CB) as a comorbidity to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) need to lead productive, meaningful and fulfilling lives with the greatest degree of self-determination and independence possible.

Description

THRIVE! Enrichment Services is focused on doing three things: 1. Transforming Lives. 2. Eliminating Barriers to Inclusion. 3. Creating Opportunities.

THRIVE! is working to improve every aspect of life for people who have autism or intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) with comorbid challenging behaviors (CB) by providing the resources, supports and interventions necessary for them to lead productive, meaningful and fulfilling lives with the greatest degree of independence possible.

Our goal is to help individuals who have autism and other disabilities with comorbid challenging behaviors realize their potential and fully participate in, contribute to and benefit from their communities. Our strategy for achieving this goal is to break down barriers to inclusion and replace them with bridges that connect people with comorbid challenging behaviors to opportunities to become valuable assets to our shared global society. One of the key mechanisms for implementing this strategy will be using recreational outings as a conduit for facilitating inclusion while simultaneously employing diplomatic advocacy to transform communities into welcoming environments.

Currently, THRIVE! is making an impact by raising awareness about this issue, and by providing information and resources for those who love, care for and interact with individuals who have comorbid challenging behaviors. As we build capacity, we will begin providing direct services to impacted individuals and families. Learn more about us by visiting bit.ly/HelpUsHelpThemTHRIVE.
