Mission Statement
Founded in 2012, Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre is an award-winning nonprofit theatre company in Brooklyn. We elevate the voices of all women by reimagining the classics. By investing in the growth of our artists, we nurture an inclusive and collaborative community that creates artistically excellent work.
Description
Hedgepig ensemble produces 1-2 mainstage productions and a series of theatrical events and readings throughout the year. In 2020, we are embarking upon a strategic plan that will transform the company into a voice of national importance through our Expand the Canon program. We are also rolling out a public speaking program to bring the skills of classical theatre to a professional environment. All of this surrounded by the excellent productions of plays for which we are known. All of our programming is designed welcome our audience into our artistic family.
We have a 15-member professional acting ensemble that has been playing, training, and acting together for many years. These talented artists anchor our productions. When audience members return to see multiple shows, they start to note familiar faces and are brought more deeply into our work.
Whether speedy Shakespeare plays with wine pairings, championing lesser known classical plays by female writers, or boozy brunch benefits spark your interest, we've got it all!
