Come join us in our mission to make a difference and help to improve our Hospice Patients quality of life, by providing compassionate presence and care to Kindred Hospice's Hospice Patients and their families in the Jefferson City/ Columbia/ surrounding areas.
Come join our team as a volunteer! Volunteers are an essential part of our dynamic interdisciplinary team (of nurses, doctors, spiritual care providers, social workers and home health aides). Kindred Hospice of Jefferson City Volunteers may serve in a multitude of ways, including offering patient companionship (such as reading a book, engaging in conversation, actively listening by the bedside, playing card games, singing or holding someone's hand). Volunteers may also provide caregiver/family respite, or engaging in arts/crafts activity. Volunteers may also assist with special events such as memorial services and veteran pinning ceremonies for our Veteran patients and families.
Kindred Hospice of Jefferson City Patient Care volunteers drive to visit and offer support to hospice patients and families. Whereas our Administrative volunteers come into the office to assist in administrative tasks.
We provide free extensive training and ongoing education and support for our volunteers. We value and nurture our volunteers as essential members of our interdisciplinary team. We seek a diverse volunteer team that reflects our multicultural community. Volunteer trainings occur in our office in the Jefferson City office. Our patients and families are located throughout the Jefferson City/ Columbia/ surrounding areas.
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age, pass a background check, interview, fingerprinting, TB test, urine drug test, orientation training and orientation competency test.

Mission Statement
Our Care Transition Program focuses on a full continuum of care to ensures patients receive the appropriate level of care when they need it. Care coordination ensures patients receive the clinical excellence and support they need while remaining at home, reducing hospital readmission, and providing support for their family/ caregiver.
Description
*Hospice care helps patients and their families make the most of the time that remains. Hospice focuses on the patient and family, comfort and support, creates an individualized care plan based on the specific needs, wishes and values of the patient and family, includes physical, emotional and spiritual support, and occurs wherever the patient calls home.
*Hospice care is for people who have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less, who choose to focus on comfort care over healing treatment.
