About Volunteer Services:

Garnet Health’s volunteer program is an integral part of the hospital’s operations. For over 20 years, volunteers have provided invaluable assistance to our patients, visitors and staff. The Garnet Health Volunteer Corps, more than 200 strong, use their special talents to contribute to the well-being of our community all year long.

Garnet Health Medical Center offers a friendly environment and a broad range of volunteer opportunities in medical and support areas throughout the hospital and outpatient facilities. If you are not sure about how you may fit in, contact us and we can help you choose an opportunity based on your background, experience, and interests.

Becoming a Garnet Health Volunteer:

The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years of age for clerical and customer service assignments. You must be at least 16 years old to be permitted to volunteer on a nursing unit. If you are under 18 years of age, it is mandatory that your parent or legal guardian to attend the volunteer information session with you if you are accepted into the program.

We accept new volunteer applications 2-3 times per year for our Adult, High School and College Programs. Once your application is received, it is reviewed and assessed. If you qualify, we will invite you to an information session to learn more about our program and the onboarding process. The onboarding process includes: a background check, reference check, medical clearance and orientation. Once all of the onboarding tasks are completed and the volunteer has attended orientation, they will be cleared to begin volunteering in the medical center. On average, it usually takes about 4 weeks to complete the onboarding tasks necessary to volunteer.

Please check https://www.garnethealth.org/giving/volunteer for more information and a link to the application.

Description

Garnet Health Medical Center, formerly known as Orange Regional Medical Center, is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Formed by the merger of Arden Hill Hospital and Horton Medical Center, Garnet Health Medical Center moved the two campuses into a single-site, new, state-of-the-art facility on August 5, 2011. This is the first new hospital built in New York State in over 20 years and boasts seven floors of state-of-the-art technology and provides 383 beds and employs over 2,400 healthcare professionals. More than 600 doctors have privileges at the hospital and treat thousands of area families, friends and neighbors. In addition to the main hospital, we also provide several outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. With the opening of our Outpatient Building, many of our outpatient services, previously provided at other off-campus locations, have relocated into this new, state-of-the-art building on our main hospital campus in Middletown, NY.
