Volunteers are needed to provide companionship visits to hospice patients throughout Sacramento and Placer counties. During these visits the volunteer will be providing the comfort of the presence of a friend, You may read to patient, talk with them, play music, go on a walk or simply sit beside them. The presence of a volunteer makes a huge difference to hospice patients, so please consider joining the First Call team!
Training is provided. Mileage to patient visit is reimbursed. TB test, background check, and drug screen are required and provided at no cost to the volunteer.
Hospice care is offered to clients in their private homes, residential care facilities, and to skilled nursing facilities . We work to assign you to a patient who lives as close to you as possible. We are looking for those who can provide at least one visit per week.
Hospice care has evolved as a result of the desire of terminally ill patients and their families to live life until death with dignity, and with the highest level of comfort possible for body, mind and spirit.
The purpose of our Hospice program and its services is to assist clients, both the terminally ill person and the family, in this process. We would love to have you be a part of that.
