Volunteers warmly greet center participants and visitors, assist individuals to register and sign in for lunch and activities, accept contributions and fees, make reminder phone calls, and help introduce new participants to the Center. Volunteers work under the supervision of the Center Volunteer Coordinator who provides orientation and guidance as needed.

Our mission is to empower and support East Valley older adults and their families to remain independent and engaged in our communities.
Description
Aster Aging is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to serving our community since 1979. Aster provides a full continuum of programs and services aimed at independence with dignity as older adults and families navigate the sometimes challenging journey of aging. We achieve this through five core programs: (1) Center-Based Services are provided at our two senior centers in Mesa at Red Mountain and Mesa Downtown. Services include congregate meals, health and wellness, education and social activities. (2) Meals on Wheels offers nutritious meals for isolated homebound older or disabled adults. (3) In-Home Support assist physically challenged individuals. Volunteer Services match homebound neighbors with caring volunteers for essential transportation, grocery shopping, and friendly visits. Home care provides respite, personal care and housekeeping through trained direct care workers. (4) Outreach/Social Services Program assists older adults and their families in navigating and accessing needed social services, benefits and health resources. (5) Contracted Programs enable Aster to provide elements of our quality core programs in partnership with other organizations.

- Concierge Volunteers are needed for weekday shifts of either morning (8:00 -10:30 AM) or afternoon (10:30 – 1:00 PM). Volunteers are typically asked to commit to a minimum of one shift per week.
- As Concierge Volunteers may receive confidential information about Center participants and also handle money, compliance to the terms of the Aster Ethics Policy is required.
