Communications Manager duties and responsibilities

Communications Managers are responsible for many organizational and creative tasks to standardize and improve the communication efforts of their organization. They have the following responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other teams to identify the public voice of the brand.
• Create style guides and brand voice outlines for all public relations, marketing, advertising and other vital departments.
• Consult with executive management to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations or crises.
• Draft press releases, press kits and speeches following organizational news.
• Write letters, interdepartmental memos and other business correspondence.
• Communicate with media outlets and journalists and create press kits.
• Develop materials to educate staff on communication practices.
• Coach and assist team members on improving communication skills.
• Perform communications research and monitor the progress of various communications strategies.
• Review written communication being sent out through social media, electronic newsletters and the organization’s website.
• Work in tandem with the Marketing Manager and reporting up to the Director of Marketing Strategy and Communications.
