Recruiting Organization: Cornerstone Foundation Belize

Volunteers and interns make a difference when they help women rise above gender based violence, economic abuse and poverty, and a lack of education and marketable skills.

Women of Belize face a variety of educational and vocational challenges. Cornerstone Foundation provides resources and serves as a refuge for women seeking a safe environment to learn new skills, fellowship, and receive support.

There are so many ways you can help women rise above the challenges they face:

  1. Get to know our women, listen to their stories, help them believe in themselves, encourage them to become the best they can be
  2. What are you good at? Find empowerment through empowering our women, share your knowledge and skills that can be used to generate products or services that can provide an income
  3. Provide literacy training, English as a second language classes, or job skill training
  4. Teach women leadership skills, how to use a computer, basic business management principles, about investment and profit
  5. Work with women to plan women-centered events, educate the community about gender based violence, fund raise for projects, set goals, and reach for the stars
  6. Take your experiences back home and share with others, create an online donor program, encourage others to participate and to come visit our women, together we make the difference!

Cornerstone Foundation is a small grassroots community development organization in the multi-cultural Central American country of Belize.

Cornerstone provides accommodations (dorm style), a hot home cooked Belizean midday meal on work days, orientation, staff direction, professional networking, and office space (including equipment and supplies) for $585 U.S. per month (three month term is recommended). Volunteers must have travel health insurance.

Apply to volunteer as an individual or in a group, for the cultural and life experience and / or for internship credit at your school. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Students, retirees, and other adults are welcome to apply.

Cornerstone’s office and housing are both located in San Ignacio in the Cayo District of Belize (11 miles from Guatemala). We can't wait to meet you!
