Job Function:

We are searching for someone talented and professional to act as an assistant to the MarCom Director. The applicant must live within 60 miles of Huntsville, AL. You will represent the North Alabama Zoological Society and work with the Marketing and Communication team to develop and implement initiatives that increase company visibility. You will assist the MarCom Director with tracking and analyzing the performance of advertising campaigns, ensuring that all marketing material is in line with our brand identity, and enhancing a favorable image of our company with employees, potential candidates, clients, potential customers, influencers, and the public. You need to be self-motivated, task-oriented, enthusiastic, have the ability to follow through, and be community-driven to take on this exciting role. This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player. You must have at least 6 hours a week to volunteer.

Responsibilities :

  • Help develop strategies and tactics to get the word out about our society and drive qualified traffic to our front door
  • Help deploy successful marketing campaigns
  • Assist with marketing material, from website banners to hard copy brochures and case studies
  • Help plan and budget for Marketing events, programs, and initiatives
  • Monitor corporate image frequently and ensure it is in compliance with company brand
  • Assist in maintaining a calendar of outreach activities and events, including community events, volunteer service, expos, and other communication opportunities.
  • Help prepare budgets for each new community outreach activities or stay within the assigned budget provided.
  • Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
  • Assist in the organization of special events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events and other fundraising initiatives.

Skills Required :

  • Aptitude in presentation and public speaking
  • Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate and motivate
  • Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures with spreadsheets
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
  • Working knowledge of website management tools
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to generate creative ideas
  • Attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
  • Good time-management skills

Education/Experience :

  • BSc/BA in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or relevant field from a four-year accredited college or university strongly preferred.
  • A proven track record of successful PR and/or marketing campaigns

The North Alabama Zoological Society (NALZS) is volunteer-run and this is a volunteer position. There is an understanding from the organization that the selected volunteer will be using their own free time to accomplish the tasks of this position and their ability to commit time will vary. The organization only expects follow-through on the tasks the volunteer has agreed to perform in the time agreed upon.
