Sunnydale Elementary PTA is one of the oldest PTA units in California. This year, it's in danger of shutting down due to lack of new volunteers! We know parents can be some of the busiest people on the planet, but PTA isn't just for parents or teachers. Anyone can be a part of PTA and volunteer, whether or not they have a student that attends our school! We're opening up applications to anyone who's interested in making this little part of the Antelope Valley a better place. We need someone who is great at taking notes. This position is great for resume-building, and it's okay if you don't know right now how to be a secretary! There is training and mentorship available from other PTA members. We can even cover the cost of membership!

PTA Secretary Responsibilities

  • Takes minutes at board and association meetings
  • Co-signs formal papers with president: authorizations for payment, resolutions and formal letters
  • Handles PTA correspondence as directed by the president
  • Maintains and preserves PTA records and important documents to pass on at the end of the term

This will be an elected position, so as part of the interview process, you will get a chance to share with the current PTA membership why you want to be the Secretary. Even if you're not elected Secretary, don't worry! There will be other things you can help with!

This position is a good fit for retirees, high school seniors, and college students.

Sunnydale Elementary PTA helps fundraise for extracurricular activities such as field trips, book fairs, after-school programs, and educational assemblies. They also organize spirit days, the yearbook, spirit wear, and prizes for school contests or student academic achievement.
