Looking for a hands-on experience in supporting the intake process of lifesaving units of blood?

This role involves the important role of processing the unit of blood from start to finish. From communicating effectively with our volunteers and community organizations to data entry skills, this role has a number of responsibilities:

  • Scanning in the units of blood, segmenting units, unloading plasma from blast/enter product racker, scan product into product racker/ place in walk-in refrigerators.
  • Manufacture and store blood products according to applicable Food Drug Administration, Association for Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies, and Red Cross policies and procedures.
  • Perform good inventory management practices throughout the manufacturing process. Prioritize workload to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and complete manufacturing department records. Maintain accurate electronic and physical inventory locations for products/samples.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Minimum of 8hrs every two weeks, times can vary based on volunteer availability. Ideally 2-4 shifts per week, any time between 8am-5pm
  • Ability to use/learn a wide variety of lab or medical equipment. Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and willingness to comply with American Red Cross COVID-19 protocols. 2-day New Employee Orientation, On the job instruction and classroom training
