Recruiting Organization: The American Leader

The American Leader is a nonprofit knowledge hub that looks at the world through a problem solving lens. We are seeking volunteers who can research, draft, and update problem briefs on the nation's systemic problems and storylines that provide historical context to the topics covered; who can report on progress being made towards solutions to the problems we cover; and who can identify and profile often unheralded individuals in business and government at the local, state, or national level who are striving to bring about those solutions, be it incrementally or in bold strokes.

The initial four problems that we’re tackling: widespread threats to voting rights, the rapidly changing climate, unequal access to healthcare, and our ballooning national debt. Income and wealth inequality, the failure to educate for democracy, and immigration are the next issues we’ll take on.

Your finished products will be easily accessible to the public but also useful to more informed citizens and professionals looking to fill gaps in what they know. All work must be well sourced and documented - transparency is a fundamental part of our approach.

If you are a strong writer, a curious researcher or interviewer, and someone who knows how to stay out of the weeds and avoid going down too many rabbit holes, then please apply and let us know the kind of writing you’re interested in: profiling leaders in business and government and reporting on progress being made, or delving deep into a particular problem area or documenting the historical threads that continue to influence events today.
