In 2021, Rainforest Partnership launched Rainforest Collective, an unprecedented coalition of forest-focused organizations with the mission of ending deforestation for good. The Collective will map out a cohesive strategy for rainforest protection, collectively advocate for forest protection and zero-deforestation, and create innovative instruments to tap into new funding sources and build pathways for funding to more efficiently reach community-based work on the ground.

To facilitate the growth of this initiative, RP is looking for a dedicated, organized, and reliable Rainforest Collective coordinator to support the Rainforest Collective leadership team. Rainforest Collective is an unprecedented coalition of forest-focused organizations with the mission of ending deforestation for good. The Collective will map out a cohesive strategy for rainforest protection, collectively advocate for forest protection and zero-deforestation, and create innovative instruments to tap into new funding sources and build pathways for funding to more efficiently reach community-based work on the ground.

To facilitate the growth of this initiative, RP is looking for a dedicated, organized, and reliable Rainforest Collective volunteer coordinator to support the Rainforest Collective leadership team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule, coordinate, and organize meetings and take meetings notes
  • Coordinate communications, meetings, and collaboration between team organizers and partners
  • Manage partner network and partner interactions, identify potential new partnerships with organizations aligned with the Collective, focusing on indigenous, youth-led, or otherwise underrepresented organizations
  • Support development of Rainforest Collective website, documents, powerpoints, etc.
  • Track relevant news (including policy, corporate action, civil society actions, etc.) in the rainforest conservation space
  • Research, planning, and outreach leading up to COP27
  • Coordinate logistics for Rainforest Collective event at COP27
  • Identify and build partnerships with organizations aligned with the Collective, focusing on indigenous, youth-led, or otherwise underrepresented organizations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills (including formal and technical writing, ability to compose compelling narratives, and strong presentation skills).
  • Experience in partnerships and stakeholder engagement preferred.
  • Experience in environmental issues or with NGOs strongly preferred.
  • Event planning, execution, logistics experience strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in another language preferred.
  • Flexible - must be able to accommodate working on various timezones, shifting priorities, tight deadlines, multiple ongoing projects.
  • Ability to commit to a one year time frame (minimum).
  • Note** Possibility of volunteer position becoming compensated position based on ability, dedication, and funding
