Recruiting Organization: Virginia Quilt Museum
As a small, private museum, we could not keep our doors open or our programs running without tremendous volunteer assistance! Each day, our volunteers perform meaningful, essential tasks and proudly represent the Virginia Quilt Museum to the public.
We make it a point to work with each volunteer to assess their individual interests and skills and incorporate them into our mission. We want our volunteers to be able to grow and learn through their experience with us. There are many different ways our volunteers can get involved, including:
Front Desk (taking admissions, answering the phone, making shop sales)
Gallery Docent (assisting visitors with general questions, enforcing exhibit gallery rules)
Landscaping (planting flowers, mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, etc.)
Administrative (filing, data entry, preparing mailings, etc.)
Special Events (putting out signs, greeting guests, cooking, etc.)
Community Ambassador (distributing museum rack cards, bookmarks etc. in your home region)
Curatorial (folding quilts, sewing on quilt sleeves, researching quilt history, etc.)
Outreach (attending festivals, fairs, quilt shows etc. on behalf of the Museum)
Graphic Design (designing advertisements, logos, flyers, etc.)
On-site Quilter (assisting with quilting demonstrations)
Youth Educator (helping seek or host field trips, school presentations, etc.)
Adult Education (helping arrange or assist with group tours, quilting classes, etc.)
Exhibits (hanging quilts, proofing exhibit labels, etc.)
