Stuck at home during the Pandemic but still interested in building community right here in Queens? We are looking for YOU.

Connect from the comfort of your own home and make a difference in the life of a senior today!

With your senior you can:

• Chat over the phone
• Video chat
• In the future, help with their pet.
• In the future, visit in person providing companionship.

All volunteers must:

• Provide proof of vaccination status.
• Live in the New York tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut) and be at least 18 years old.
• Commit at least six months to participating in our program to build a meaningful relationship with their matched older adult.
• Provide two references and consent to a background check (more information in the application).

Ordinarily, our Friendly Visiting volunteers usually visit seniors, but due to the pandemic, our volunteers are making friendly phone calls to seniors. You will be matched with one senior and call them every week.

With your phone buddy, you can:

• Develop a friendship with a senior
• Hear interesting stories
• Video chat with Face Time or Zoom
• Talk about favorite books & movies
• Play games like chess online
• Attend virtual workshops together
