Recruiting Organization: Friends of Aine Center for Grieving Children and Families
At Friends of Aine, we want to create a world where no child grieves alone. Our volunteers work towards this mission by facilitating peer-to-peer, activity-based support groups. These services are open to grieving children, teens, and their adult caregivers. Our goal is to create a safe space for our grieving population to share their own personal experiences, explore topics related to grief, and learn coping strategies.
Facilitators will work together within the same room in groups of two. Each volunteer is prepared well in advance by our Program Director, who develops the curriculum for each 8-week series. Volunteers do not need to have a specific background in any particular field. They will be trained by both the Volunteer Coordinator and Program Director, and have the opportunity to shadow two sessions with veteran facilitators prior to volunteering.
