Position Description: UMR is looking for volunteers to come down and join us at our office to assist with some spring cleaning! As we get ready for the big year ahead, we want to take some steps around the office to maximize space and inventory or discard outdated supplies. This opportunity is also a great chance to visit our suite in downtown DC and spend a day helping out directly at our headquarters. We will provide all volunteers who join with some cool merchandise and/or UMR giveaways and if we can get a large enough group on some days, arrange for a volunteer’s lunch-in or dinner. The tasks volunteers will assist with during spring cleaning shifts are listed below and include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

• Checking mailing list addresses against return-to-sender mailers from past campaigns to point out discrepancies between the two.
• Assisting with discarding of return-to-sender mailers
• Inventorying of winter items and clothes from previous #ShareWarmth campaign to check for integrity and sort according to gender and size.
• Packaging excess winter items and clothes and organizing in our storage unit for ease of access in the future.
• Inventorying merchandise items in storage and organizing by item.
• Checking the condition of certain items in storage and discarding as needed.

Volunteer Requirements: We don’t have many requirements for this opportunity other than needing to come to our office in downtown DC, being a team player, and bringing positivity and enthusiasm to help!

Commitment: Our Volunteer Management Coordinator (VMC) or another UMR team member is more than happy to meet with you at our office based on your availability either during morning shifts (12 PM - 3 PM) or afternoon shifts (4 PM - 7 PM). All we ask is that when signing up for a shift and selecting dates with our VMC you commit to the entirety of a shift.
