Covenant Hospice provides support and care for terminally ill patients so that they may live as fully and as comfortably as possible. Considered to be the model for quality, compassionate care at the end of life, hospice care involves a team-oriented approach to medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support that is tailored to the patient and family’s needs and wishes. The focus is on caring, not curing, and in most cases care is provided in the patient’s home or in a home-like setting. Covenant Hospice was the first hospice program in Tennessee.

We are not-for-profit, community-owned and based in East Tennessee. We serve the following counties in East Tennessee: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Cumberland, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier and Union.

Examples of what volunteers may do are:

• Sitting with the patient while their caregiver takes a break or attends an appointment
• Running errands
• Light housekeeping or meal prep
• Walking pets
• Lawn work
• Special events
• Administrative/Clerical work in our office
• Offering companionship to patients and caregivers

Covenant Homecare and Hospice is a top tier (Level V) partner with Honor Veterans program, a national awareness and action campaign created to assist veterans receiving end-of-life hospice care. Veteran volunteers can participate in pinning ceremonies and be placed in Vet-to-Vet volunteer opportunities.
