Girls PREP is a 501c3 non profit organization based in the DC metro area. We operate both virtually and in person and we are looking for someone that wants hands on experience in nonprofit management, business development, marketing and sales.If you are currently enrolled in college and want to work with a non profit that services women of color focused on the achievement of educational outcomes we are the best fit for you!

Intern Job Responsibilities:

  • Understands the overall concept of the company, including the mission, brand, customers, product goals, and all other aspects of community service.
  • Rotates through our various areas of responsibility, provides and implements ideas to grow and improve the business.
  • Accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project(s) during the internship.
  • Engages with customers or clients and provides service and/or sales.
  • Understands fundraising and leads fundraising events.
  • Provides suggestions to board members for improving customer service and internal processes.
  • Learns and becomes proficient on internal technology used and finds solutions for technology enhancements.
  • Assists in analyzing data creating reports.
  • Commits to a full year term
  • Understands that this is an unpaid internship (commitment is verbal and requires written consent).

Weekly hourly requirements are 15-20 hours per week and extends the full month from the beginning of to the end of the academic calendar year. Working as an intern with Girls PREP gives you direct access to other professionals to help expand your career network both short and long term. We are able to provide a letter for academic credit if required.

There is no expectation of compensation, nor any promise of compensation and this internship does not extend to paid employment at the end of the term commitment.

  • Verbal, oral and written communication
  • Organization and attention to detail

  • Proficient in technology (computer, app, mobile, Microsoft and G suite)
  • Professionalism

  • Confidentiality (NDA required)
  • Social Media Influence

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • In 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of college or enrolled in a graduate program
  • Prior educational or industry experience is preferred in education, nonprofit management, business or communications
