Help distribute food to hungry Hoosiers

Want to make a difference in your community? Become a SNAP Outreach volunteer and help food insecure Hoosiers get the assistance they need.

Many of our food insecure neighbors quality for SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) but don't know that they qualify or aren't aware of the benefits they could be receiving. That's where you come in! Volunteers are needed to assist interested neighbors with the SNAP application process...virtually!

Volunteers must be friendly and customer-service focused, comfortable using a phone and computer, and ages 18+. Spanish-speaking skills not required, but a plus!

Volunteer duties include:

  • Chatting with neighbors interested in SNAP over the phone
  • Filling out the intake form with the neighbor on SurveyMonkey
  • Explaining next steps and answering questions about the proces

No experience required - we'll hold a virtual training session so you are comfortable with the process and the SNAP program prior to calling neighbors

Time Commitment: We're flexible, but volunteers must commit to volunteer to make phone calls at least 3 hours a week for a 3-month time period (during the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday)

Ages 18+
