IU South Bend Community: Volunteer with City Lights Kids

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Indiana University South Bend Center for Community Engagement

City Light Kids (CLK) is a program for elementary students that meets weekly after school, throughout the school year.

CLK fosters an environment of belonging and offers a space for each student to be known and accepted, providing a unique support system that comes alongside students, their immediate family, and the school system. During the course of a CLK gathering, students will play, participate in life skills and enrichment activities, receive academic support, and share in a family style meal.

OUR VISION:

To see children grow into holistic wellness through academic empowerment, life skills training, spiritual development, and mentoring.

WHY CITY LIGHT KIDS?

We believe City Light Kids are future leaders of our community. Amidst the pressures and difficulties that face students today, CLK recognizes a student’s potential and commits to investing and connecting students to needed resources and opportunities.

CORE COMPONENTS:
  • Mentoring: Mentoring through adult volunteers & staff
  • Academic Empowerment: Academic assistance & enrichment
  • Spiritual Development: Story-based Bible teaching
  • Life Skills: Social-Emotional Learning
