Mission Statement

Facilitate alternatives for horses and owners through innovative opportunities and outreach.

Nexus Equine was founded in 2016 to fill a void in equine welfare in Oklahoma. Although Oklahoma has one of the largest horse populations in the United States, there remains a dearth of resources for at-risk horses in Oklahoma. Nexus has positioned itself as a leader in proactive horse adoption and a lifesaving resource for horses in transition. Since inception, Nexus Equine has aggressively increased its’ lifesaving capacity year over year for the overlooked horses of Oklahoma. In 6 short years, Nexus has impacted over 1,000 horses through its adoption and community assistance programs. Surprisingly, Nexus Equine was able to accomplish these impressive numbers and strong momentum without a true home base facility from which to operate. Rather, Nexus Equine operations were spread out through several borrowed locations and foster homes throughout Central Oklahoma.

In 2021, the Nexus Equine team was able to secure a major gift to enable Nexus Equine to relocate into a wonderful new facility. The new facility is located on 160 acres in El Reno and features numerous 4+ acre paddocks, a covered arena, a 19-stall barn, round pens and training corrals. This expanded location will assist in growing the overall capacity of the Nexus Equine Programs. In addition, a home base will allow the team to operate much more efficiently and effectively on behalf of horses in our programs. Nexus Equine is working to expand its volunteer program and welcoming volunteers to the new facility for increased community engagement.
