The ReDI School in Cyberspace offers free online tech courses and targets people with migrant backgrounds as well as locals who do not have access to digital education or a professional network. Our goal is to develop ReDI in Cyberspace into a global digital education platform that enables the tech community to empower refugees and IDPs regardless of their location. We believe that everyone should have access to accessible and affordable digital education.

We are currently piloting our first Intro to Python course and we are now looking for volunteer teachers with experience in other coding languages to join our the Fall Semester 2022. The semester is starting officially on September 5th, and we'd like to meet with the teaching teams a couple of times July, to start preparing all we need for classes. We are in need of teachers for the following topics:

  • Cybersecurity
  • UX/UI Basics
  • Software Development Fundamentals (intro to Java)
  • Web Development Fundamentals (html/css)
  • Data Analytics Fundamentals (Intro to Python)

The main role of ReDI teachers is to present lesson content in English and assist students with in-class exercises. The teaching teams consist of 7-9 teachers who usually teach each class in groups of three. Teachers can divide the different roles among themselves according to their own preferences (presenter, assistant). We have many resources (presentations, exercises, etc.) that can be used to develop the new curriculum and we will have 1 month to prepare, ahead of the course. ReDI will provide support throughout the semester with organizational structures, training, and workshops.

The learning groups will consist of approximately 10 to 15 students aged 18 and older, and we appreciate a high female participation - among both students and teachers :)

Mission Statement

Our mission at ReDI School is to break down barriers and connect the leaders of tomorrow with dignity and humility - and we need you to get there: ReDI School is a volunteer-based organization that could not live without the amazing power of our tech community across Berlin, Munich, Copenhagen and Nordrhein-Westfalen, where our volunteers teach, mentor, and support our students along their journeys. This way we can offer all our classes without any fee for our students!

The ReDI School of Digital Integration is a non-profit technology school based in Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf, Duisburg and Copenhagen. The school was founded in February 2016 with the aim to facilitate integration into society for refugees as well as their access to the labor market. Today, ReDI offers free courses in digital skills to IT-savvy "newcomers" and locals having no access to digital education or to a professional network. To accelerate the start of a new career, ReDI also offers different career services: workshops, career talks and networking events with tech companies. In addition, students and alumni have access to a 1:1 mentorship program.

These are the programs that are currently running in Berlin: Digital Career Program (advanced coding classes + career services), Digital Women Program (digital literacy, beginner coding classes, design track + career services), Kids & the Digital Youth Program (intro to computer skills & intro to coding).
