Join us outdoors and enjoy becoming a mentor for youth in our program!
From Spring through Fall, our youth programming fosters fantastic relationship building between community members and the youth participants by sharing time at our farm learning about environmental stewardship and teamwork.
We are looking for adults 18 and up that are interested in working with at-risk youth ages 13 - 18. The youth program benefits from volunteers that have exceptional communication skills, are able to set good boundaries, enjoy working within a garden (though you do not need to have a lot of growing experience), are able to build relationships with our youth, and are comfortable working in a farm situation (walking on uneven ground, mostly standing, working in full sun, etc.). Our goal for the youth is to be seen, heard, and accepted as they are. Our belief is that relationships are essential; they are the foundation of the work we do. Consistent attendance is vital for this relationship building.
We have the following dates + times available:
- Monday from 8:00 - 11:00 am starting May 30th through October
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:00 - 11:30 am from May 31st - September 14th
It is understandable that not everyone can volunteer every day, but we hope that our volunteers can commit to joining regularly throughout the season. Contact our volunteer Coordinator (volunteer@lovelandyouthgardeners.org) for more information on times & dates.
Must be 18+ and able to pass a background check for this opportunity.
*COVID impacts will be address in accordance with the guidelines of the CDC*

Leaf-Out - (nearly year-round) Students can move to this "next" level program where they further develop job, social & life skills by working in the community/production garden, process/sell produce to local venues, and volunteer in community service projects.
Enterprise Internship - (nearly year-round) Students can apply to move into the Enterprise Internship program where their focus is on developing a product using herbs and/or produce from the gardens, marketing/sales & managing a business.
