Volunteers will be assisting with phone calls in support of our upcoming Fight For Air Climb Detroit event this Spring. To learn more or sign up, please contact us at EventsMI@lung.org or 248-784-2000 (option 4).
Calls can be made with your personal phone virtually during a 2 hour volunteer shift or you can join us at our office in Madison Heights during an upcoming volunteer shift.
Volunteer shift times will vary depending on your location preference and current projects. They likely would fall for 2-3 hours between 10AM - 7PM. Those visiting our office will be to assist with other volunteer projects while at the office if they are looking for additional volunteer hours. Individuals and small groups up to 5 people are welcome to express interest.
Callers will be helping in a variety of ways. They may be updating records with our local fire departments, sharing important event updates, or assisting with verifying participant information. Volunteers will be provided a list of individuals to call and speaking points to assist with outreach. They will be asked to update the list with notes and pertinent information. While not required, it is helpful if the volunteer has a computer to update their notes and download the call information.
Note for in-person opportunities: The health of our community, staff and volunteers is a top priority for the American Lung Association. Vaccinations are encouraged but not required to volunteer. Our volunteer office COVID-19 protocols include spatial distancing, health screenings, sanitation protocols, and face masks to be worn at all times. The number of volunteers and staff are limited for each shift.
