Baylands Bioblitz with Environmental Volunteers

ORGANIZATION: Environmental Volunteers

EV Logo

Join the Environmental Volunteers for an exciting day of citizen science at the Baylands Nature Preserve! A Bioblitz is simply a snapshot of the plants and animals in a given location at one time. Help us record all the living things that can be found on the day, using the iNaturalist app. Our volunteer educators will also be present to help you learn about what you! The data we collect will contribute to the Horizontal Levee Pilot Project, led by the City of Palo Alto to use habitat restoration and green infrastructure to provide alternative flood control from sea level rise. Note: All participants must agree to wear a face mask at all times. All participants will be asked to sign a Waiver of Liability and a Photo Release before programs. Photo Releases are optional but Waivers are required for participation.

Baylands Trails are wheelchair accessible.

About Environmental Volunteers

2560 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto, CA 94303, US

Mission Statement

To promote the understanding of and responsibility for the environment through hands-on science education.

In 1972, when awareness of threats to the San Francisco Bay ecosystem began to grow, a group of women concerned about preserving the estuary for future generations created a small, hands-on program for local children. The program included a field trip to the Bay so students could experience it, know it, enjoy it, and grow to take care of it. This was the birth of Environmental Volunteers. Since then, more than 300,000 children and adults have explored natural science learning with us!
