Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity for the better, forever. We operate in communities all across the United States - urban and rural, Big and Little. Our mentors work with children in the community, in their schools, on military bases, and many places in between.

Our unique brand of one-to-one mentoring has a Big impact all over the nation.

WHAT DO WE ACHIEVE?

Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children achieve success in school, helps them avoid risky behaviors such as getting into fights and trying drugs and alcohol, and helps them improve their self-confidence. We hold ourselves accountable to our supporters by regularly measuring our impact

WHOM DO WE SERVE?

Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity between 5 and 18 years of age. Our network of volunteers, donors and supporters comes from all walks of life, all backgrounds, all corners of the country.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Our Community Bigs are matched with a Little in the community between the ages of 7 and 15. Together, they spend between 4 and 8 hours a month building relationships and igniting potential!

Mission Statement

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yellowstone County creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Description

We make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 5 through young adult throughout Yellowstone County. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Our one-to-one mentoring relationships support the critical social and emotional development needed to help build resilience and promote the mental health and well-being of hundreds of youth in Yellowstone County. Big Brothers Big Sisters is the ONLY prevention program in Montana proven to affect a broad spectrum of risk factors (i.e. delinquency; alcohol, tobacco and drug use; teen pregnancy; and school dropout) while simultaneously helping children reach their highest potential. As such, the return on investment is higher across the board than dollars invested in single issue prevention programs.
