Provide telephone conversations with homebound Veterans!

To provide telephone conversation with homebound Veterans seeking connection; provide support and communication to the Veteran's caregiver. This is a community-based assignment where the volunteer will utilize a quiet, private area to call the Veteran/Caregiver.

  • Schedule & participate in telephone visits, which may consist of conversing with the Veteran/caregiver for a mutually agreed upon time frame (generally 20 minutes per phone call).
  • Participate in regular phone contact to convey support and concern.
  • Volunteers are responsible for using their own telephone.
  • Immediately report any problems, or concerns conveyed by the Veteran and/or caregiver to the CCC Coordinator who works as the liaison to the Veteran’s primary care team.
  • Good people skills, excellent communication/listening skills.
  • Emotionally mature, positive, and service-oriented
  • Sensitive to needs of Veterans/caregivers in stressful situations
  • Excellent phone proficiency such as a clear voice, good listening skills, compassionate
  • Ability to work independently

Volunteer agrees not to meet with the Veteran in person in their home or in the community.
