Come cook with us! We are looking for people who love working in the kitchen, creating new dishes and otherwise feeding nutrient dense food to folks who don’t always have access to it.
Every week we rescue almost 1000 lbs of fresh meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables and, in turn, create amazing, scratch meals for over 500 people. Our volunteers help with receiving, storing and processing our raw ingredients; planning menus; creating meals and delivering to our partners. No two weeks are ever the same and creativity is key. If you love cooking from scratch and combining fresh flavors to make amazing meals then you will love helping in the kitchen!
Our partners include folks picking-up food staples, nonprofits distributing meals to food insecure communities and other non and for-profit entities working to ensure and improve the safety and well-being of Waukegan and surrounding areas. Our food is always served with dignity and the ever present message that, if sourced and prepared properly, food can improve our individual and public health. Come cook with us.
An orientation is required to work in the kitchen and training is ongoing as we discover new foods, food combinations and flavors.

Description
Building connections and trust in Lake County since 2010, Roberti Community House offers programs to adults and children that provide opportunities to feel valued and recognized. Continuing our mission to empower the community, in 2018 we opened Roberti Culinary Pathway. This free, nine-week training program is offered to the un- and underemployed to provide a pathway to a career in the food service industry. In addition to connecting graduates with potential employers, RCP offers complete support including communication skills, interview prep, and personal support. This program also continues RCH philosophy of giving back by putting all the meals created during the training back into the community, feeding healthy meals to area shelters, soup kitchens, Veterans Closet and more.
