What is the New IDEAS Study?

New IDEAS is a nationwide research study for people who have memory loss. The study is looking at a type of FDA-approved brain imaging called an amyloid PET scan. It is a safe, non-invasive test that takes pictures of the brain. New IDEAS is trying to find out if PET scan results can help guide doctors in diagnosing and treating memory conditions. It is crucial that there is diverse representation in the New IDEAS Study. Of the 7,000 participants, we are aiming for 2,000 of those participants to be Black / African American and 2,000 to be Hispanic / Latino. Together with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the American College of Radiology, and Vanderbilt University, the Alzheimer's Association is proud to be a part of this national research study.
