Heartland Hospice in Monterey county is looking for crafters to make and donate activity mats for our patients. Activity mats can provide comfort for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, as they can provide relief from anxiety, stress and restlessness. Activity mats are rectangular cloth mats that can be placed in the laps of patients, they consist of different materials, textures, images and patterns. I have attached a photo as an example. Add on items are securely sewn onto the mat for safety reasons. Frequently used add on items are zippers, ties, stuffed animals, ribbons, laces, Velcro and pockets. There are awesome examples available on Pinterest and google search will bring up addition ideas. Be as creative as you want.

Volunteers are the most important component in helping the staff give a full circle of care to our clients. They can visit clients in their home or facility, give caregiver relief, make crafts and gifts items for the clients, office support, and much more...
Without volunteers our clients would lack in receiving the love and care they need during their most difficult journey.
