Non-profit hospitals in the United States are required to offer charity care programs in order to keep their non-profit status. These programs forgive or reduce medical bills for patients below certain incomes. That bill for $15,000? It could become $150, or even $0.
At Dollar For, we enforce the hospital’s Charity Care policies by helping patients navigate the financial assistance application process. We are always looking for dedicated volunteers who can work form home on their own schedule to join our volunteer teams.
We have two core teams:
- Patient Advocacy - These heroes help complete financial assistance applications on behalf of patients.
- Hospital Policy Research - These sleuths do online research to learn and document each hospital's charity care rules.

Our goal is to attract numerous small charitable donations by showing how much of a difference $1 can make. With assistance and aid in public charitable donations, we strive to support local Portland families get out of medical debt and get them back on their feet.
