Chinese Culture Connection
Job Title: Afterschool Assistant Teacher
Location: Malden Beebe School
Minimum requirement: Two half days
Description:
The Chinese Culture Connection is looking for an assistant teacher for kindergarten to 5th grade students from the mid of February to the mid of June, 2022. We are seeking dedicated individuals who have a passion for teaching and making a positive impact on a young child's life. Assistant Teachers must be flexible and willing to work collaboratively with lead teacher for different subjects. This is an unpaid part-time internship position, 2 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, minimum two half days.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for the CCC Little Dragon program and other educational related events;
- Provide support to students with their daily homework as needed;
- Maintain appropriate routines for the classroom;
- Provides instructional support to students by reinforcing the teacher’s lesson plans;
- Able to assist any of the following subjects: Mandarin, arts & crafts, science, and other culture related subjects;
- Work with the lead teacher to ensure all students are in the right classroom and escort students to the lobby for pick up at the end of the school day;
- Perform other assignments, duties, and special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required. Majoring in education, language, or Asian study-related field, or previous related experience is a plus.
- Possess patience, a joy for working with children, a willingness to follow instructions and work in a support role; and excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
- Organized and detail-oriented, reliable and self-starter;
- A team player, Work well with students, program manager, other teachers, and volunteers;
- Acceptable CORI;
- Ability to command attention and order in the classroom.
