As part of the Mentoring Program team (we're 11 strong), you will work with college scholarship recipients in a virtual mentoring program. You provide advising and support to students and mentors, help plan virtual events, and work on your own professional development over the course of the year. There are many reasons to come and work with us!
Member Duties: Serving with College Now Greater Cleveland, the College Guide mentoring position will work with students to help them transition from high school to college, to persist through college, and to prepare to transition out of college; help students connect to mentoring relationships in the community, assist in managing all aspects of the mentor/mentee relationship, plan events on and off campus for current College Now scholarship recipients to share college success materials; use social media, phone and in-person contact to provide students with information and materials, serve Resource center clients with their college-going needs such as college search, admission, and financial aid process including ACT/SAT fee waivers, college application fee waivers, FAFSA and financial aid assistance. Entering data into CNGC’s database to track progress and success of all activities.

Service Description : Make a real impact on the lives of Ohio students and their surrounding community - become an Ohio College Guide AmeriCorps member and serve as an advisor, mentoring and guiding typically underserved Ohioans- first generation college-going, low-income, and minority - in getting the information and knowledge they need and deserve to prepare for, access and complete a postsecondary credential.
Ohio College Guide positions are a full-time commitment of 1,700 service hours to be completed in 11 months, starting in August 2022 and serving through June 2023. College Guides will receive a modest living allowance up to $16,502 or $750.10 per pay before taxes, health insurance, and an education award of $6,495 upon completion of service. Additionally, existing qualified student loans are deferred during time of service and a portion of accrued interest may be eligible to be paid by the Corporation of National and Community Service. The AmeriCorps Ohio College Guides will receive ongoing skills training, and professional development opportunities.
