About AUTISM SIBS UNIVERSE

Location:

14107 54th Ave N, Plymouth, MN 55446, US

Mission Statement

We are a neurodiverse organization that provides person-centered services and healthy supports in an inclusive environment. We empower individuals to live with interdependence, creativity, and community.

Description

Alapa is a multi-generational community for people with and without disabilities in the heart of Plymouth, MN. This community is built around a common cause: neurodiverse living.

As a non-profit that was founded by two non-speaking Autistic siblings, We envision a world where neurodiversity thrives in community, where services and systems are simple and supportive to the people who need them, where radical inclusion lifts us all. Alapa seeks the creative balance of independence and interdependence. Informed by person-centered planning, every individual and family can choose their own paths of living. By working together and caring for each other, we grow a resilient and healthy community.

This pilot program was conceptualized with direct inputs from people with disabilities, with support from Hennepin County and technical assistance from MN Department of Human Services (DHS).

Our opportunities for volunteers are diverse from socializing with individuals with disabilities, helping with organization, assisting with art projects, and support individuals in caring for their animals.

We also have volunteer opportunities like finding grants and funding, helping us write grants, web design and assisting us on finding outings for individuals with and without disabilities.
