Red Ives is nestled approximately 46 miles up the St. Joe River from Avery, Idaho to the West and approximately 45 miles from the town of St. Regis, Montana to the East. Nearest amenities will be in St. Maries, Idaho or Kellogg, Idaho for groceries and services. Superior, Montana to the East will also have amenities for groceries and services. Each are located approximately 2 to 3 hours drive time away. Red Ives is the site of the St. Joe Ranger District’s popular Red Ives Ranger Cabin rental and is nestled in the heart of a designated Wild and Scenic River Corridor. The St. Joe River is also a "Blue Ribbon" trout fishing stream for fly fisherman and abundant wildlife can be seen daily in the Ranger Station grounds. Although the Red Ives Ranger Station served from the 1930’s and closed its doors in 1984, it now serves as an interpretive center and popular point of interest to recreationalists of all sorts.
