  • Our designers will have a background in a range of marketing initiatives for our museum. Design volunteers are responsible for designing creative for our web, print, and video. Please send over your design portfolio.
  • Here are a list of responsibilities:
    • Work with our design team to concept, design, and deliver a range of marketing materials, promotional collateral, email campaigns, graphics for videos, banner ads, flyers, etc.
    • Ensures that the JAMsj branding guidelines are followed.
    • Participate in monthly Marketing meetings and partner with various teams under the museum such as Public Programs, Volunteers, Marketing, etc.
  • Qualifications:
    • Computer fluency
    • Communication skills
    • Understanding knowledge of balancing Layout, Design, Typography and Color to achieve a variety of creative goals
    • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
    • Plus: knowledge of Sketch/Figma, basic graphic animations/video editing but not fully required

The Japanese American Museum of San Jose's (JAMsj) mission is to collect, preserve, and share Japanese American art, history, and culture with an emphasis on the Greater Bay Area.

Description

JAMsj helps maintain the area's unique cultural identity. The museum teaches an important lesson on the protection of civil liberties during this critical period when constitutional rights are questioned during wartime. It also addresses the contemporary trends and issues facing young Asian Americans.

The Museum has attracted a variety of visitors from local residents to tourists from out-of-state, and even international travelers.
