Serving on a board is a wonderful way to support a cause that you care about. But it also can be a powerful way to build your own skills and expertise. Individuals who serve on a board have the opportunity to develop and grow as leaders, cultivate new skill sets, and expand their network of peers, professionals, community leaders, and community thought leaders.
General Board Responsibilities- I'RAISE's mission statement is simple but is a full expression of our purpose and is the mantra that drives our everyday actions. Our mission is to change lives by providing youth access to resources and support that will set them up for education success.
- As a Board Member you serve as an active voting member of the legally constituted volunteer group which has authority and responsibility for the development of policies and continuing review of the conduct of the business of I'RAISE.
- The Board members raise funds to support the organization’s programs offered at I'RAISE.
- As a "working board member" you will partner with the Executive Director to fulfill management and technical functions as needed to be based on board members' expertise.
- Promote the mission, goals, and objectives of Active Plus to increase public awareness, understanding and support of the organization.
- Through personal resources or through the cultivation of new donor relationships, you are asked to set an annual goal of securing funds to support I'RAISE. One of the primary responsibilities of the board is to ensure that the organization has adequate financial resources to carry out its mission.
- Be willing to regularly review financial statements and meeting materials, and many board members will need to prepare for and attend committee meetings in addition to board meetings.
- Commit to serve on at least one standing committee or task force and to accept special assignments.
- Attend all special activities of the Board, including fundraising events and such Board events or retreats as may be planned.
- Spend time studying and evaluating issues to become informed and prepared to discuss and vote on issues facing I'RAISE. Each board member is expected to vote their position after careful consideration of the issue.
- Tasks that will require preparation and a vote by Board members include decisions on issues, policies, priorities, goals, and objectives.
- Support and promote the mission, goals, objectives, and initiatives of I'RAISE.
- Provide professional expertise and influence needed by I'RAISE and/or represents one or more constituencies needed to provide balance to the Board’s membership.
- Demonstrate significant leadership capability in the community and is willing to provide that expertise to the operation of the Board and its committees.
- Able and willing to serve effectively as a public representative of the organization and involve others in the work of I'RAISE
- Provide support and conduct an annual evaluation

LOCATION: Hybrid in Atlanta, Georgia, 70% in-person
HOURS: 16 + hours per month
COMMITMENT: 2 years. Board of Directors oversee our non-profit organization. This crucial role requires 2 years commitment and therefore we are looking for professional volunteers to be a part of our Atlanta, Georgia Board of Directors.

Mission Statement
I’RAISE Boys & Girls International Corporation is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization in New York City founded in 2012. We have been providing free tutoring, mentoring and coaching services, virtual performance classes, college preparation program, nutrition workshops, and parent education program. As a minority led non-profit organization with leaders that are women of colors, we feel so much pride and we are so proud being able to provide beneficial resources to the children in under-resourced areas in New York City in-person and multiple-states virtually. And we have been successful in providing these services because of our volunteers. Come volunteer with us as we strive to make positive changes in children's life and be a safe haven that they can rely on!
