Animal Rescue Konnection (ARK) is a nonprofit dog rescue specializing in hard-to-place dogs who would often be euthanized if it were not for our help. We support shelters, other rescues, animal control officers, and private owners. We are based in MA / NH. We do not have a facility so volunteers work from home. ARK is made up of smart, creative, and caring people. You would be joining a great team!
Marketing is at the core of our success. We are in need of a skilled and professionally-experienced social media & marketing manager, preferably with a marketing or communications degree. Sorry, no students or people looking to gain experience. Hours per week will vary but normally 3-4. Sometimes more hours such as occasional phone calls, campaign such as an online fundraiser, or monthly update of activity.
In addition to the normal tasks for this role, we need help in using all the nonprofit tools on Meta. It's OK if you haven't worked for a nonprofit or have experience with the tools! You will be given time to learn! Otherwise, the typical tasks include:
1. Oversee our three platforms to ensure the volunteers for those sites are posting on schedule (TikTok, Instagram, & Facebook).
2. Use current trends and best practices to improve and maintain our social media reach, shares, gain more followers, etc.
3. Fill in for individual social media volunteers (we have one for each platform) when on vacation or sick (not very often).
4. Oversee and assist as needed the social media team (3 total) in an encouraging and supportive way. They are independent and do a great job!
5. Have basic design skills. (We have a professional Canva account.)
6. Set goals based on current analytics of our sites.
7. Share ideas, seek efficiencies, help keep our brand feel.
8. Be familiar with google suite.
9. Maintain the social media google folder to store strategies, plans, future posts that may interest followers such as humor, education, and memes.
10. Provide a monthly update on engagement activity, number of followers, new trends, or anything of note via email.
11. Become familiar with organizations that align with ARK's mission and philosophy such as Best Friends Animal Society, Maddie's Fund, Pit Bull Central, and the ASPCA.
12. Last but very important is ability to check email at least once every day, but on your schedule. We ask because at times we have a dog at high risk for euthanasia.

Mission Statement
Animal Rescue Konnection (ARK) bridges the gap between dogs in need and the organizations that can help them find new homes. We specialize in matching breeds that are hard to place due to discrimination and labeling with progressive shelters and rescues willing to take on the challenge of taking in these 'at risk’ dogs and giving them what they need to succeed. We are not a shelter. Rather, we are a networking organization enabling us to save more dogs’ lives by collaborating with existing rescues and shelters. We focus on at risk dogs that are behaving poorly in the shelter or holding facility and/or do not do well on their behavioral evaluation due to stress. Since our founding in May 2012, we have helped save more than 400 at risk dogs in need of transfer, by finding them a shelter or rescue and giving them a second chance at the life they deserve.

A small organization that achieves a lot because of the commitment, dedication, business, and common sense of a handful of volunteers.
Too many dogs were being euthanized under the guise of labels like 'unadoptable’ and 'not place-able’ without evaluating the dog as an individual, looking at the dog’s stresses, looking at the physical environment or enlisting a training regimen. We decided to do something about it.
We focus on helping dogs that are displaying behavior symptoms during their confinement. Why? Because, in our experience, these dogs manifest entirely differently in new environments, after they can de-stress from the trauma of being misplaced or with proven training regimens.
These dogs can be saved if only other shelters and rescues knew about them. Leveraging our vast connections in the rescue community, we fill a huge void collaborating between progressive shelters and rescues and dogs whose time up or were not doing well in their current environment.

- Must be at least 21
- Time per week varies but 4 hrs on average, exceptions described in the role description. The first few weeks will be on the higher side to get familiar with the rescue, the processes, the team, etc.
- Good writing, basic graphics, good team member, positive attitude, interest in animal advocacy, independent worker, dependable, timely email responses.
