The Salvation Army works to address the startling realities of addiction, homelessness, and poverty across our cities. At the Carr P. Collins Social Service Center we are partnering with Parkland Hospital in a new initiative called Pathways Forward, which is designed to help behavioral health patients in a 9-month program.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with teaching classes depending on skillset. Class ideas include yoga, nutrition, music and arts & crafts. Evenings and weekends are the preferred class schedule. Volunteers will give 1-2 hours each month.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older, and will complete a background check and training. After signing up for this volunteer opportunity, a staff member will reach out with additional information.

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

Backed by 131 years of expertise, The Salvation Army of North Texas is uniquely positioned to respond to the changing needs of our community. Our footprint across 4,078 square miles in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis and Tarrant counties makes us the largest Salvation Army Command in the world. But more importantly, it allows us to reach our most vulnerable neighbors in every pocket of North Texas. As The Salvation Army of North Texas works to address the startling realities of addiction, homelessness, and poverty across our cities, we’ve never been better poised to win our battles. By re-establishing our goals for processes, partnerships, programs, and places, we can do more than just change lives. We can revolutionize the way we serve our cities.
