Food for the Soul Group Volunteer Opportunity

ORGANIZATION: CLARITY CHILD GUIDANCE CENTER

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

There is a reason we say "food is love!" Good food can touch your heart, offer a sense of comfort and remind you that someone cares about you just because.

By participating in Food for the Soul, you will provide a meal for our kids staying at Clarity CGC for inpatient psychiatric treatment and our staff that care for them. And who knows, by the end of the meal you might feel the love and joy too!

Note: Food for the Soul requires the volunteer group to prepare, solicit, or purchase meal donations for100 people from a fast food restaurant, restaurant, or food service. Then, the volunteer group will serve the meal to the children at Clarity Child Guidance Center on a pre-determined date (with at least two weeks advance notice). Clarity would like to document and publicly thank the volunteer group on social media.

This assignment is open to the general public, but is a great opportunity for small businesses or corporations. It's easiest to fundraise or purchase the meals, but other options are available (e.g. outdoor BBQ on campus).

About CLARITY CHILD GUIDANCE CENTER

Location:

8535 TOM SLICK, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78229, US

Mission Statement

To help children, adolescents, and families overcome the disabling effects of mental illness and improve their ability to function successfully at home, at school, and in the community.

Description

Clarity Child Guidance Center is the only non-profit hospital in South and Central Texas providing pediatric mental health treatment and prevention services to kids as young as three years old. We specialize in the treatment of severe mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. As a hospital, we accept a wide range of insurance providers, so it makes us very accessible to families and being able to bill insurance covers a huge portion of our operation costs, but about 6 out of every 10 kids we treat are underinsured or not insured at all. Our mission is to make sure every child receives the mental health treatment they need, so we never turn a child away just because their family can't afford it, and the support of our donors is what bridges that gap and makes it possible for us to see over 8,500 kids from all over Texas every year. We’re very grateful to our community for investing in us for the past 135 years and we look forward to turning kids' lives around with the community’s support long into the future.
