Fort Wayne is lucky to have three rivers flowing throughout the city. Roll up your sleeves and dive into the fun of keeping the rivers beautiful! Volunteers will help remove invasive plant species and pick up litter along the riverbank. Tools and gloves will be provided.

Mission Statement

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation's Overall Mission: .to enhance the quality of life in Fort Wayne by providing positive opportunities for leisure time and by being stewards of our parks lands, facilities, public trees, and other resources entrusted to our care. Riparian Department's Overall Mission: to clean and restore the downtown rivers and riverbanks for safe recreational usage for our park patrons.


Riparian Department
Working both on land and on water, we remove invasive plant species from the riverbanks in the downtown area to better restore the riparian zone. We also remove any log jams or hazards to better provide a safe recreational area for our river users.

  • Available year-round with flexible times and dates
  • Please print and sign waiver before attending the clean-up. Also, please wear pants, closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for the current weather. We will provide tools and safety gear!
