ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army Bryan/College Station

Every Wednesday morning from 8:30am-10:00am the Salvation Army hosts a food pantry distribution day. For this event, we need 8 volunteers weekly to help us transport food from inside the food pantry to community member's cars. Each week volunteers serve between 40-60 people through our distribution day.This is a simple, yet impactful way for volunteers to touch the community that they are a part of.

Description

Since 1949 The Salvation Army has been serving children, families, and individuals in Brazos County. The Salvation Army is a beacon of hope for those who are in need. In 2020, over 304,000 pounds of food was provided to 11,907 individuals. More than 11,537 meals were served during disaster deployments after Hurricane Laura. 4,127 clothing items were distributed to 127 families. 2,347 children received Angel Tree Christmas gifts. 167 families received rental assistance so they were not evicted from their homes and 109 families received utility assistance so their power could stay on. 256 backpacks were provided to the children for back to school.
