ORGANIZATION: CHEMUNG VOLUNTEER ACTION CORPS (CVAC)

Image_202107280734

Situations where grandparents are raising their grandchildren are only continuing to rise. The Neighborhood Transformation Center is looking to provide a safe space where grandparents can come together and support each other through this often challenging circumstance. We are looking for volunteers interested in facilitating the group. The current plan is for the group to meet for an hour once a month, but this may increase to twice a month depending on interest and demand. Some experience in group facilitation, or a background as a grandparent, social worker, or other "helping" professional is helpful, but not required.

Mission Statement

Make a Difference in Your Community!

Description

Make a Difference in Your Community!

CVAC is a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County.

CVAC provides education and opportunities for people of all ages to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. CVAC volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, hospitals, food pantries, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. Our staff members work with agencies and organizations to offer individuals maximum flexibility and choice.

With CVAC you can either enroll as a Cornell Cooperative Extension volunteer to work directly with our programs, or sign you up as an affiliated volunteer and work with any number of partner agencies. In both cases, we match your interests to those of agencies needing your skills and talents.
