Location:
Pikes Peak Chapter
Position Title:
Disaster Services Training Instructor
Purpose:
Train disaster workers by using fact sheets, course materials, PowerPoint slides and calendar listings for Basic, Intermediate and Advanced disaster training courses
Key Responsibilities:
• Willing to support Red Cross mission
• Obtain and maintain authorization to teach American Red Cross Disaster Services courses within appropriate level
• Train course participants in Disaster Services courses as authorized, certifying completion as appropriate and within American Red Cross standards
• Promote additional training courses
• Interrelate and cooperatively teach with other instructors to maintain a 1:10 maximum instructor/student ratio
• Provide adequate supervision of teaching areas to ensure participant's health and safety
• Confirm course with your supervisor at least 72 hours in advance
• Must arrive to teaching site at least 30 minutes before class is to begin
• Submit course records and evaluations according to American Red Cross standards
• Promote and represent Red Cross services and opportunities
• Track and submit volunteer hours

Qualifications:
• Ability to work with diverse audiences
• Ability to work well with people in groups, one-on-one, and in problem-solving situations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lift and transport equipment
• Willing to teach four classes per year (flexible class hours)
• Public speaking, teaching or presentation skills a plus
• Good organizational skills

Time Commitment:
• Flexible schedule available. Opportunities available during day, evening or weekends
• Must be able to teach a minimum of four classes per year
